All change…
Life happens.
One day you’re busy getting ready for Dorset Art Weeks, preparing for your daughter’s wedding and the next, your mum is in hospital with pneumonia. And then she doesn’t make it.
Life changes all the time, it’s a given.
We all experienced a hot summer, beyond what we are used to in the UK, and this made things harder than ever.
My summer took a different course and was spent dealing with the fallout of my mum leaving us. She lived next door, independently at 90 and has since she was 78. The place felt odd, as you would expect, but I took the summer to sort everything out.
My creativity, unsurprisingly took a back seat as I quietly processed her home across the drive.
Some very dear friends suddenly sold their house in Lyme and had nowhere to go! The timing was perfect. My mum would be the first to say ‘they must stay here for as long as they need!’ and so they are.
They have offered on a house nearby but it is so wonderful to have them here, redefining the space and enjoying the legacy of my parents creativity, a well kept comfortable home and the gardens beyond.
Some things fall into place and this was one of them.
Change is important and positive (once we get used to it!)
