Hello! Nice to see you here

This is where you can get to know more about why I love to paint the dramatic coastline of Devon and Dorset!

About - Artist | Jools Woodhouse

My studio life.

I am an artist living in the beautiful English countryside near Lyme Regis.

I take inspiration from my surroundings and strive to capture something unique in my artworks. My work is mainly created in acrylics, acrylic inks, pencil and printed collage paper, often on wood board or paper. I have the luxury of a dedicated studio in my garden with far reaching views where I am free to create.

I also share my knowledge with students of all ages, teaching them new skills and techniques.

I love to do commissions and create something personal - a unique piece that you can take home and enjoy for years to come.

Inspiration in 2023

“Over the last year I have been trying to capture pattern and movement in my paintings, experimenting with more abstract mark making, observing the fast moving clouds and the ever present sea with all it’s unpredictable ways.

This year I started an online collage course with the best in her field, Sally Hirst

I have allowed myself time to explore new ideas and techniques in order to develop my woek and create paintings that I love

I have been playing around with printed and painted collage papers which allows me to use more spontaneous marks curate the pieces into a dynamic new compostion.

I am creating a new collection of work for release in the Spring of 2024 in time for dorset Art Weeks.

If you’d like to be the first to see this new collection, sign up to my Studio Newsletter below.

I enjoy walking the rolling hills and footpaths and always have my eyes open to possible ‘snapshots’ of colour, form, line and the feeling of capturing something unique.
I save these either in my camera or my mind and they reappear at some point along the way - maybe this week or next: I love to see them become something unique.

Why not follow me on Instagram or Facebook and keep up to date with what I have been absorbed in lately

“The painting arrived safely. My husband opened it and said how well it was packaged, so many thanks for taking such care. I love it! The colours are beautiful, and of course it captures the essence of Lyme Regis.”
